Save Water Save life

Last week when I was enjoying scrolling my Facebook feed I came across an article with following thumbnail.

At first I thought it was some kind of joke, how could a country yielding more than 40% revenue through agriculture face this issue but later after some research I was shocked to see that Pakistan is ranked third among the most water deficit countries by IMF. The statement is as severe as the problem itself. Something more severe is our approach towards the problem. How many of us leave our taps open full during brushing our teeth? How many of us waste water by taking long baths? I bet majority of us having enough water supply does that. We do it without realizing the importance of water. Research says only 20% of the country’s population have access to clean water while the rest receive polluted water primarily contaminated through fertilizers, industrial effluents and other wastes.

Talking about the megacity Karachi where majority of the residential areas face acute shortage of water particularly the slums. We as a public need to create the sense of saving our water reserves so the supply for the future don’t get compromised. Supply of water is responsibility of the government institutes but as responsible citizens of this country it is our duty to consume water efficiently. We need to raise awareness campaigns to impart water education among the public in order for a safer future Pakistan
